STEVENSTON GREYHOUND STADIUM
This site is not an official website for the track shown here and is neither approved or endorsed by the stadium. I am indebted to Richard English for helping to construct this page. |
The Ayrshire town of Stevenston had a greyhound track built around the perimeter of the ground of the local football team at Granview Stadium and situated at 4° 45' W 55° 38' N. The races were independently run and racing opened for the first time on 23rd June 1933. The venue proved popular and racing continued for over 40 years before the final meeting was held in 1967. The ground on which the former greyhound track once stood is now a golf course. |
I am grateful to Jon Seddon for the following link to a map showing the whereabouts of the old track |
This section gives a comprehensive picture of
the badges produced by the track throughout the ages, but only provides the briefest of
glimpses of its history. For those wishing to undertake further research we can recommend
a visit to http://astore.amazon.co.uk/wwwgreyhoundd-21 where further reading can be undertaken. |
